Make sure it's a genuine EK Filter Drier

Alco Controls Singapore

The next time you're installing an EK Filter Drier, make sure you're installing a geniune EK Filter Drier from Emerson Climate Technologies Flow Controls. That's because more and more imitation EK Filter Driers are finding their way into our marketplace - imitations that cannot compete with the real thing for performance and reliability.

Look for the laser hologram label on our product as the proof of authenticity. The laser hologram label is specially designed with unique graphic patterns and serial numbers.

Avoid potential problems
Sure the imitations may look authentic, but they cannot deliver the long-lasting protection from moisture and contaminants you and your customers expect. In fact, the long list of potential side effects from inferior imitation products includes:-
  • Shortened compressor life
    • Wear damage from contaminant debris
    • Damage from acid formation
    • Damage from corrosion (water)
    • Copper plating due to moisture content
  • Stuck expansion valves
    • Freeze up due to presence of water
    • Valve stuck open or closed due to contaminant debris and sludge formation
  • Shortened system component life
    • Corrosion due to acid/ water
  • Blocked coils
    • Contaminant debris, sludge
  • System leaks
    • Due to corrosion/ water
Look for the Emerson Climate Technologies brand.
A supermarket refrigeration system suffered because fake filter driers were used. Several call backs, money and time wasted as a result.

How can you avoid those possible problems? How can you be sure the filter drier you're installing is a genuine EK Filter Drier? Look before you install. Make sure the label carries the genuine Emerson Climate Technologies brand.
Make sure you work only with authorized dealers. When in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact Emerson Climate Technologies for assistance.

Deliver only the best
The EK Filter Drier delivers contaminant filtration, refrigerant drying and acid removal capabilities that are measurably superior to any other drier. The result? Peak system performance and confident, satisfied customers.
A geniune EK Filter Drier protects more than just an air conditioning or refrigeration system - it protects your reputation as well. You customers expect nothing less than the best. The best technology. The best service. The best protection. And the EK Filter Drier lets you meet that demand. It's just what you expect from the recognized industry leader - Emerson Climate Technologies Flow Controls.

Selection Software

Selection Software version 7.5 is now available for download. There have been some minor changes to the internal structure - changes to designation of the seasonal efficiency tools, and some additional weather data locations (S. America).
The compressor isentropic efficiency is added to the list of performance parameters.

The new database includes additional electronic expansion valve refrigerant options:

- Refrigerant R23 for EX4 – EX6
- Refrigerant R744 (CO2) for EX2 and EX4 – EX8

The Head Pressure Controllers have been discontinued and are therefore removed.

It is recommended to make a full installation into a new Select 75 folder.

ACP (E) Direct Acting, Hot Gas Regulator

The ACP [E] is a direct acting, hot gas bypass regulator designed for small capacity systems. The adjustable ACP[E] regulators are supplied with factory setting of 40psig [point at which the regulator starts to open], which can be changed by adjustment. Turning clockwise will increase pressure setting.

  • small, compact size adapts to any installation
  • friction-free floating design
  • covers multiple capacity ranges
  • fully adjustable from 0-80 psig [factory setting 40psig]
  • wrench flats on inlets and outlets
  • can be used as a constant pressure automatic expansion valve
  • angle or straight through style
  • internal or external equalization
  • SAE or ODF connections
  • available with fixed settings / non-adjustable
  • clockwise to increase pressure setting
  • maximum working pressure: 450psig
  • maximum working temperature: 300F
  • UL/CUL file number SA 5312

Schematic Diagram Download

Troubleshooting a Solenoid Valve: Problem 2

Valve closes, but flow continues (seat leaking)

Foreign materials lodged under seat.

Corrective Action:
Clean internal parts and remove foreign material

Valve seat damaged.

Corrective Action:
Replace valve or affected parts.

Synthetic seat materials chipped.

Corrective action:
Replace valve or affected parts.

Valve improperly applied or assembled.

Corrective action:
Replace valve with proper valve or reassemble.

Troubleshooting a Solenoid Valve: Problem 1

Normally closed valve will not close
Or normally open valve will not open

Diaphragm or plunger restricted due to corroded parts, foreign materials lodged in valve, dented or bent closing tube, or warped body due to improper brazing or crushing in vise.

Corrective Action:

Clean affected parts and replace parts as required. Correct the cause of corrosion or source of foreign materials in the system. Install a filter drier upstream of solenoid valve.

Manual opening stem holding valve open.

Corrective Action:

With coil de-energized, turn manual stem in counter clockwise direction until valve closes.

Closing spring missing or inoperative.

Corrective Action:

Reassemble with spring in proper position.

Electrical feedback keeping coil energized or switch contacts not breaking circuit to coil.

Corrective Action:

Attach voltmeter at coil leads and check for feedback or closed circuit. Correct faulty contacts or wiring.

Reverse pressures (outlet pressure greater than inlet pressure) or valve installed backwards.

Corrective Action:

Install check valve at valve outlet, or install with flow arrow to proper direction.

Oil Filter

The AOFD is designed specifically for refrigerant systems that use POE oil. POE oil is hygroscopic in nature, which means that it attracts and absorbs water. Moisture in a closed system can produce acid and will harm the compressor. The AOFD protects compressors by removing moisture and trapping contaminants
